INTERVIEW
How did you get into music? What initially inspired you?
I’ve been a musician since I was like 9 after I fell in love with the drums at church. I would play every Sunday for the church and still do to this day.
What themes do you tend to interrogate in your work?
I’m a very transparent artist and try to be relatable that’s why I speak not only about my faith but other things in my life that I go through. Music in itself is an expression/outlet and that’s how I interrogate myself into the music I make
What is your favourite project you’ve ever worked on and why?
My Volume 1 project was fun as when I dropped that it was my first project and I was nervous about it but people seemed to like it which was great also my latest single our dance which was something different to what I normally do.
What advice would you have for creatives of colour looking to get into music?
I would say if you’re looking at getting into music find something you enjoy and stick to it. Just because you’re a person of colour doesn’t mean you have to stick to whatever’s trending or popular. Do the thing you love to do and make it your own.
What are you currently working on?
As of right now i Can’t say too much in terms of what I’ve got going on. Not trying to be mysterious it’s just I have focused on production this year and less on being an artist. Which has paid off but I do miss it. That’s not to say I haven’t got anything in the pipline so September 11th you may hear something very new.
