SHANINE GALLAGHER

Shanine Gallagher (she/her), is a Scottish-Filipino documentary filmmaker from the Highlands, based in Glasgow.

Having graduated with an MA in Filmmaking (2021) from The University of the West of Scotland, she has since written, directed and self funded four independent projects.

Shanine's projects are based around lived experiences, human relationships and involve working with non- professional actors.

Her work is influenced by her rural upbringing which has been a key theme and source of inspiration throughout these projects as well as the exploration of belonging.

Shanine's most recent work as part of GMAC Film’s Little Pictures Scheme, ‘No Single Track’ is centred around heritage, identity and belonging, exploring both her own, her brother’s and other people's mixed experience in Scotland today.

Through the creation of these projects, Shanine has been able to develop her understanding of her place within her family and as a part of society as a whole.
