INTRO
We are happy to announce that applications for We Are Here Scotland’s Creators’ Fund ROUND 2 are now live. The fund aims to provide practical funding opportunities for Black and POC artists and creatives across Scotland, along with one-to-one mentorship from experienced industry professionals.
BACKGROUND
On 9 June 2021, the Creators’ Fund ROUND 1 not only reached its £6000 target but exceeded it. With the help of a judging panel , 7 people were selected to receive £500 each and mentoring. This fund is aimed at not only providing financial support, but also practical career advice, support and guidance.
We are now moving into the next phase of funding more creatives.
In terms of challenging the inequalities within Scotland's creative industries, we need to ensure that the developing careers of BPoC artists and creatives are supported on a consistent and meaningful basis. And the Creators' Fund is a small way in which we move things forward and maintain a presence in Scotland that we hope can inspire future generations of artists, creatives and also be the start of a much-needed discussion regarding representation in Scotland's creative industries.
Support for the We Are Here Scotland Creators Fund’s aim is to make a significant impact for many BPoC artists and creatives in Scotland.
MENTORS
We are also seeking mentors to offer practical career support and guidance to successful Creators’ Fund recipients from across Scotland’s creative and artistic industries. To find out more and express interest, please see below.
